StepStone Group is a global asset manager in the private markets sector and is responsible for allocations of more than US$280 billion, of which approximately US$60 billion are discretionary assets. The company offers comprehensive coverage of the entire private market spectrum: Private Equity, Private Debt, Real Estate, Infrastructure & Real Assets and leverages its strong local presence in all global markets with over 450 investment specialists at 19 StepStone locations in 13 countries.

StepStone constructs and manages separate accounts and specialized commingled vehicles that are customized to meet specific investment objectives, as well as unique regulatory requirements, tax considerations, and regional focus. The scope of separate account services and degree of client involvement varies by relationship and policy guidelines, but StepStone typically directs or has substantial participation in the negotiation of account terms, investment policy, portfolio construction, optimization of the portfolio structure as well as ongoing risk analysis and reporting. The firm also manages primary, secondary and direct/co-investments in all private market areas. Our specialized commingled solutions invest in a variety of private market strategies and enable investors to participate efficiently in these specialized strategies that they may otherwise be unable to access due to high minimum requirements.

StepStone’s private debt strategy is differentiated primarily by its multi-manager approach and the StepStone private debt platform, which is based on managed accounts with approximately 30 GPs. This clearly distinguishes StepStone from a classic fund of funds or single funds organisation. The main advantages of the managed account platform are: efficient portfolio construction and re-investment, quality assurance and control, high diversification and attractive economies of scale. In addition, the platform offers flexibility with regard to GPs and investment universe depending on the market situation (dynamic redistribution of commitments possible), scalability and optimization from a tax, regulatory and accounting perspective.
