Andreas Binder has been Managing Director of the German Alternative Investments Association (BAI) since 1 October 2026. Prior to this appointment, he worked for the VHV Group from 2004, where he headed the Alternative Investments department from 2009, overseeing portfolio management and research across private equity, infrastructure, renewable energy and real estate. In this capacity, he also held several advisory board positions.
Andreas Binder began his professional career with an apprenticeship as an industrial management assistant at E.ON, followed by a degree in Business Administration, graduating with a Diplom-Kaufmann (FH) qualification. In 2007, he qualified as a Private Equity Advisor (ebs/BAI), followed by the designation of Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) in 2009. In 2021/2022, he completed the postgraduate programme “Risk Management & ESG for Alternative Investments” (Certificate of Advanced Studies Alternative Investments & Sustainability) at the University of Oldenburg.
His involvement with the BAI began in 2011 as a member of its Investors’ Advisory Board. In 2024, he was elected to the BAI’s honorary Executive Board, where he most recently oversaw the portfolios of Treasurer, Investors’ Advisory Board and Events.
