- In addition to further improving the competitive framework for funds and investors, sustainable and digital finance will shape the association’s work in the current fiscal year.
The Bundesverband Alternative Investments e.V. (BAI), the central advocacy group for the alternative investments industry in Germany, looks back on a successful 2025 fiscal year and continues its growth trend. At the annual general meeting on April 15, 2026, the Board of Directors and management reported on key developments in the BAI’s association work, including in the areas of legal affairs, alternative markets, events, and public relations. The renewed record growth in membership numbers speaks to the BAI’s successful fiscal year. In 2025, 28 new member companies joined, bringing the current membership total to 316.
Commenting on the association’s work in the current fiscal year, Chairman of the Board Achim Pütz, Partner at Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, stated: “In 2025, we were able to continue our successful track record. Once again, we have set a new growth record. One of many reasons for this is certainly the Private Debt Symposium, which has now evolved into a two-day event with around 500 participants. Combined with the unique exchange of knowledge with the industry and investors, we are very well positioned for the coming years.”
BAI Managing Director Frank Dornseifer emphasized: “In particular, within the framework of the Location Promotion Act and the Fund Risk Limitation Act, we were able to make significant progress and significantly improve and increase the flexibility of investment opportunities in alternative investments; regulation and tax law for funds and investors are now better aligned. This also allows for the mobilization of urgently needed private capital.”
In the board election, the members re-elected Pütz and the vice chairs to their positions by a large majority: Britta Bene, Partner at Mainstay Human Capital Advisors; Andreas Binder, Head of the Alternative Investments Division at the VHV Group; Dr Peter Brodehser, Managing Director & Partner Infrastructure Investments at DWS; Matthias Erb, Partner at StepStone Group; Andreas Kalusche, CEO of Prime Capital AG; and Prof. Dr Rolf Tilmes, Academic Director at the EBS Executive School.
Pütz commented on the board election as follows: “I am pleased that the members of the BAI have once again placed their trust in the board—and I see this as a clear mandate to continue to vigorously represent the interests of our industry.”
