BAI Science Award

One of the BAI's goals is the support of research studies, to combine theory and praxis and provide a basis for a dialogue not only within the respective field of study, but also between science and the AI industry and Investors. In 2010 the BAI decided to support scientific research in the field of Alternative Investments. The invitation to tender shall motivate junior researchers and scientists, to concentrate on doing Research on Alternative Investment topics.

For this purpose the BAI is offering the Science Award combined with financial rewards in an total amount of 14.000 Euro per year in the following categories:

  • Bachelor Thesis
  • Master Thesis
  • Degree Dissertation/Habilitation
  • Other Scientific Papers

These distinctions represent excellent scientific work in the field of Alternative Investments.

The awarding of prizes is decided by an independent jury, consisting of recognized experts from science and practice.

Deadline for the Science Award 2026 is February 2026

The deadline for submissions for the 2026 BAI Science Award is 28 February 2026.

Please note: The award is only open to students, doctoral candidates, undergraduates and postdoctoral researchers from German universities or German research institutions. Individuals or teams from professional practice in Germany are also eligible to participate.

Please note: If the authors are interested, submitted works may be published by Diplomica Verlag in the ‘Alternative Investments’ book series. The books are available in bookshops and directly from the publisher.

Printing Cost Grant

One of the BAI's goals is the support of research studies, to combine theory and praxis and provide a basis for a dialogue not only within the respective field of study, but also between science and the AI industry and investors.

In this context the BAI is offering Science Award, which is related to financial rewards. The existing funding opportunities are complemented by the offer of printing costs grants for excellent dissertations.

In this way junior researcher and scientists shall be encouraged to discuss Alternative Investments topics within their dissertations.

The field of Alternative Investments is dynamic and characterized by changes regarding the frame conditions, strategies or other relevant factors, so that  dissertations are appropriate to provide new insights and approaches. With help of these works the Alternative Investments industry and investors can benefit from practical relevant knowledge.

Notice: The printing costs grants can be offered to doctoral students from German Universities or German Research Institutions only. Further information in German language is downloadable below.
