Thorsten Volz, Simmons & Simmons
Thorsten is a partner in our Düsseldorf office with a special focus on the energy and infrastructure sector. Thorsten specialises in regulatory, corporate as well as M&A law, with a strong focus on renewable projects, power plant projects, grid infrastructure and complex joint ventures. He is now working in the energy and infrastructure sector for more than 20 years.
Thorsten's ambition is to support projects relating to the energy transition towards a less carbon-driven electricity production and a sustainable district heating. He hereby acts for utilities, especially German Stadtwerke, developers of renewable projects as well as financial institutions and funds.
Among other things he acted on structuring regional grid operators, acquiring the business of Stadtwerke, financing waste-to-energy plants, large scale M&A transactions with a focus on grids, onshore wind, solar and conventional power. He also advises project developments and mezzanine financing with focus on wind, solar, hydrogen, district heating, water supply and waste disposal.
