Andreas Binder (49) has been appointed Managing Director of the Bundesverband Alternative Investments e.V. (BAI), the leading industry association representing Germany’s alternative investment sector, effective October 1, 2026.
Binder holds a degree in business administration and has extensive experience in alternative investments. Since 2009, he has headed the Alternative Investments department at VHV Group, where he was responsible for portfolio management and research across private equity, infrastructure, renewable energy and real estate.
Binder has maintained a close relationship with the BAI for many years. He joined the BAI Investor Advisory Board in 2011 and was elected to the association’s honorary Board of Directors in March 2024. With his appointment as Managing Director, he will step down from his board position.
“With Andreas Binder, we have gained a recognized alternative investment expert who also brings many years of leadership experience from the institutional investor side,” says Achim Pütz, Chairman of the BAI. “He also knows the association, its members and the key issues facing our industry very well from various perspectives. He therefore represents continuity while also bringing fresh impetus.”

Frank Dornseifer to Step Down as Managing Director
After many successful years, Frank Dornseifer has decided, also for personal reasons, to step down as Managing Director of the BAI effective March 31, 2027, and pursue new professional challenges.
Frank Dornseifer has helped shape the BAI for almost 20 years, bringing great commitment, extensive professional expertise and personal dedication to the role. In particular, during his more than 15 years as Managing Director, he has made a significant contribution to the association’s successful development and its positive standing in politics, business and society.
The BAI Board of Directors and its members particularly value Frank Dornseifer’s reliability, solution-oriented approach and consistently constructive commitment to advancing the association’s interests.
The BAI regrets his decision, thanks him for his outstanding cooperation and wishes him continued success in the next chapter of his professional career.
